Welcome!

Welcome!

I’m Lauren, a wife to Adam, and a momma to Story and Violet. I have a passion for learning and a heart for Jesus. This blog has been a dream of mine for years. I wrestled with God about it for quite some time. I felt Him calling me to go for it, to put myself out there, but my quiet self did not want to be so vulnerable. I’m so glad that I listened to God, pushed through my fears and built this through faith. I pray that my words encourage you as you are walking through valleys or shouting from mountaintops.

A little bit about me….I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelors in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Development and a minor in Special Education. My husband, Adam, and I married in 2011. We had our first child, Story, in 2013. Our journey with our daughter is what led me to want to start a blog and to share what the Lord has done in our lives.

Story was born with a severe congenital heart defect (CHD) that would require her to have a series of heart surgeries within the first few years of life. She had her first two heart surgeries but quickly went into heart failure after the second one. The only option for her was a life saving heart transplant. She received her new heart when she was 9 1/2 months old. My faith has been tested far beyond what I ever could’ve imagined. Our second daughter, Violet, was born in 2022. She has been such a blessing to our family and an answer to Story’s prayers about being a big sister! This is just a snapshot of our lives the past 10 years. I hope to share more with you in the future.

I pray that my words encourage you and let you know that you’re not alone in this thing called life. My hope is that we can grow in faith, motherhood, and learning one heartbeat at a time!

If you would like to know more about Jesus, our journey, CHD, or organ donation please feel free to reach out to me on the contact page or email me at heartbeatsandcrayons@gmail.com! I pray that this is a place you can come to often and feel at home.

Many Blessings,

Lauren
