A New Adventure
Hi Friends!
Today on the blog I wanted to give you a little peak inside our day to day life and to share about our newest adventure- homeschooling our oldest daughter, Story. Well, it is sort of like homeschool; she started doing virtual school in November through the public school system. It was difficult at first to get on a good schedule; due to her starting virtual school just a few weeks before Christmas break. However, we have finally gotten on a good schedule- even though it’s March. Haha. But nonetheless we have had a great week staying on track! And it came when I decided to implement these three things.
Make a schedule and chore chart
Story is 11 but she still thrives off of being able to stay organized. That is just how her mind works best. This has also been helpful for our younger daughter, Violet, who is 2 and a half. The chart includes the schedule for the day as well as their chores for the week. I also added stuff that they do on a daily basis such as brushing their teeth, taking a shower/bath. Every time they complete a task they put a sticker on that day and activity. Violet has really caught on to this and wants to do as much as she can so she can keep adding stickers! For Violet’s chart I added visuals so she can follow along and it shows her a connection between the picture and the words-it is a great way to build vocabulary at a young age!
I will add the link to the schedules I made so you can try and implement it for your children too!

Have an incentive
Both of my girls were so excited when I told them I was going to have our very own treasure box filled with random goodies for them to pick from every Friday if they have completed their tasks for the week. It really has helped keep Story motivated with doing her activities, school work, and chores everyday. I bought the goodies for their treasure box off of Amazon and Wal-Mart. A lot of them were party favors that they absolutely love!
More outside time
I know this sounds obvious, but we have had a pretty rough winter and been inside the past few months more than usual because there has been so much sickness floating around and it seems we have caught everything this winter. So when the sun started to shine and the temperature was in the 60’s and 70’s we took full advantage of it and have spent half the days outside! We opened the windows and let the fresh air in and it has definitely been a game changer for everyone’s attitudes around here. It naturally motivates everyone and Story gets her school work done sooner so she can spend most of the day outside playing with Violet and her best friend that lives across the street.
I wanted to end this blog post with a scripture for you. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
I hope you have a great weekend and I hope you have some time to print out the daily activity chart and fill it in with the activities and schedule that you have for your family, let me know in the comments what you do to help keep your children on a schedule or what works best for your family; I’m always looking for different tips to implement with my family!
Many Blessings,
Lauren
